About The Author

ELEANOR KIT

Eleanor Kit is the pen name of Michelle Wade, chosen in honour of her two hardworking, business-savvy grandmothers.

Michelle writes children’s books for curious preschool and primary school-aged kids, drawing inspiration from her life in New Zealand and Fiji. Her stories highlight the places we live, the environment, and the native plants and animals — often featuring her own much-loved pets.

Her first series, “Millvy’s Missing Tail,” follows the fun adventures of Millvy, a silver Maine Coon cat, as he travels the world looking for his missing tail. These stories gently explore themes like perseverance, kindness, and making new friends — perfect for social-emotional learning (SEL).

Next came “ABC with Millvy” and “123 with Millvy”, educational books for preschoolers that explore the alphabet (in two languages!) and numbers using tally marks. This series also includes activity worksheets and a teacher’s guide, making it a great resource for kindergartens, homeschooling, educators, and parents.

Michelle’s third series introduces Millvy’s dog brothers, Copper and Charcoal, who have even appeared on a New Zealand TV show (Barkley Manor). Their stories add even more fun and adventure to the collection.

Coming in 2026 is a brand-new non-fiction series based on Michelle’s real-life experience designing and engineering a unique gyroplane — an exciting project she helped bring to life. This series aims to spark an early interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) for primary and intermediate-aged kids.

Michelle blends fiction and non-fiction in all her series to create a shared reading experience that can bring together readers of different ages, interests, and learning styles — inspired by her own children’s very different reading preferences and experiences with dysgraphia.

Originally from New Zealand, Michelle has lived and worked around the world — in Austria, the Netherlands, England, and Australia — across industries like banking, mining, and aviation. She returned to Auckland in 2001, where she now juggles life as a children’s author and a Senior Project Manager in the finance industry.

You can connect with her on LinkedIn.
